Shanghai Airport International Aviation Food (SAIC) is a joint venture jointly funded with $5.3 million by the Shanghai Airport Authority and FRG in 1996. Located in Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, its production building sits adjacent to the international terminal and covers an area of 7,700 square meters. It has more than 300 employees and can provide 6,000 servings of food per day on average.
The company has designed and built aviation food production buildings following the highest international standards in the food catering industry. The entire production building is controlled by central air-conditioner, and the indoor temperature is maintained around 12 C. All food is produced in a completely isolated low-temperature working chamber. Whole sets of production equipment have been imported from the United States or Europe, including refrigerating rooms, bread rooms, hot kitchens, cold kitchens, elevating trucks and quick-freezing equipment.
